Who we are

The Consulate of Italy in Cape Town d’Italia a Cape Town provides consular services to Italian and foreign citizens resident in its own consular area (the South African provinces of Western Cape, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape, the British island of Saint Helena).

The Consul of Italy is Giulio Mignacca, assisted by a team of eight employees.

In the consular area there are also two Honorary Vice Consulates, based in Gqeberha and in East London.

Due to the high number of users, during the hours above the staff in charge of consular services may be unable to answer phone calls as they are at the front desk.
Therefore, it is recommended to contact the Offices by phone outside of public reception hours, or to send requests via email to the addresses listed further down on this page.
Before calling, it is advisable to consult the information about the various consular services available on this website.

For urgent assistance, the  EMERGENCY  NUMBER +27 (0) 83 398 3010 is active from Monday to Friday from 17.00 to 22.00 and on weekends from 9.00 to 22.00.
From 22.00 to 8.00 you may call the telephone operator of the Italian Ministry of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation +39 0636 91 26 66.
These numbers must be called only in cases of emergencies which require immediate intervention (i.e. accident, arrest, serious health and family problems, natural disaster).
