Voters are hereby informed that STARTING FROM SUNDAY, 8 MARCH 2026, those who have not yet received the electoral package for the postal vote on the occasion of the Constitutional Referendum of 22–23 March at their address of residence may request a DUPLICATE at the Consulate of Italy in Cape Town.
The request for a duplicate can be submitted in person at the Consular Office, or by post: ordinary e-mail to consolato.capetown@esteri.it or certified e-mail to con.capetown@cert.esteri.it.
The application, which can be written using the template available here, must be accompanied by a valid identification document.
Voters who request a duplicate of the electoral package must declare that they are aware of the criminal responsibilities arising from double voting, provided for in Article 18, paragraph 2, of Law 459/2001, according to which: “Whoever, on the occasion of elections to the Chambers of Deputies and referendums, votes both by mail and at the polling station of the last registration in Italy, or vote several times by mail, will be punished with imprisonment of one to three years and a fine of 52 to 258 euros”.
PLEASE NOTE: Requests for duplicates received before Sunday, 8 March will not be accepted.
Once the appropriate controls will be carried out, the Consulate of Italy in Cape Town will provide the interested parties with the necessary information for the issuance of the duplicate. The duplicate may be mailed to the requesting voter’s residence address (if there is time to receive the package) or issued in person, during the hours of operation of the Consular Office, i.e., from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
