TRAVEL UPDATES

In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the following provisions are into force:

1. Travel from South Africa to Italy

For passengers coming from South Africa, entry into Italy is allowed only for reasons of work, business, study or absolute urgency. It is mandatory for all passenger over the age of 6 to present a negative (PCR or antigenic) COVID-19 test carried out within 72 hours before entering Italy. Furthermore, the obligation of self isolation remains in force for 10 days, regardless of vaccination or possession of "green certification" (so-called "Green Pass"). 2. Travel from Italy to South Africa

Regarding entry to South Africa - whatever the country of origin - only travellers in possession of a Covid-19 molecular "PCR" test with a negative result carried out no earlier than 72 hours after departure are allowed. The test is mandatory for all passengers over the age of 5 and must have been conducted by a licensed doctor / laboratory signed by the person in charge. It is also advisable to attach a courtesy translation in English to the report. Travellers who are unable to produce suitable certification will be subjected to a 10-day quarantine period at their own expense.
