2021 Comites elections - Regulatory simplification

2021 Comites elections - Regulatory simplification

Following the enactment of Legislative Decree 117/2021, new legislative provisions were introduced to simplify the electoral proicess in view of the elections of the Com.It.Es. planned for 2021.

In particular, the signatures of the lists of candidates are now exempt from authentication if accompanied by a valid identity document or identification or equivalent document pursuant to Article 35 of the Decree of the President of the Republic of 28 December 2000, no. 445, also issued by the competent South African Authorities. The subscribers of the lists must be resident in the Cape Town consular district for at least six months and be on the electoral lists for the elections of the Comites.

Furthermore, for districts made up of less than 50,000 resident Italian citizens (such as the Cape Town district), the minimum number of subscriptions required for the presentation of an electoral list is set at FIFTY (instead of one hundred).
