Following the transition to alert level 1 decided by the South African authorities, the Consulate of Italy in Cape Town will extend from Monday 5 October, the opening hours to the public as follows:

- Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 9 to 12

- Thursday from 9 to 12 and from 14 to 16

In compliance with the containment measures of COVID-19:

• public access is allowed only by appointment

• body temperature control will be performed at the entrance

• the social distancing measures adopted since the beginning of the pandemic are also confirmed (no more than 1 person or a family nucleus may be present in the respective waiting room)

• users are asked to enter the Consulate wearing protective masks and to use the hand sanitizer available at the entrance.

In this context it is considered appropriate to underline how many consular services can be carried out or started remotely without making an appointment at the Consulate.

In particular:

• Through the FAST-IT portal it is possible to request registration with AIRE and change of address.

• By sending an email to  you can proceed with the request for a tax code

• By post or courier or by hand delivery to the security during office hours, it is possible to send the certificates of birth (for children under 18), marriage and death, duly apostilled and translated and the necessary documentation to start the renewal procedures for the driving license

• To issue or renew your passport, you can request an appointment through the "Prenota Online" platform.

For other urgent practices (notarial deeds, citizenship, visas), it is possible to request an appointment using the dedicated e-mail addresses (  /  / ) .

Finally,  please  note that,  for urgent assistance,  the  EMERGENCY  NUMBER            +27 (0) 83 398 3010 is active from Monday to Friday from 5 pm to 10 pm and on weekends from 9 am to 10 pm.
