CHILDREN TRAVELLING TO AND FROM SOUTH AFRICA

According to South African law from the 1st June 2015 every minor of any nationality who travels from, to or via South Africa has to travel with:

a) a certified copy of his/her birth certificate with the names of both parents, with an official translation if the certificate is not in English (example: if born in Italy estratto di nascita plurilingue,if born in South Africa unabridged birth certificate).

b) In addition, should the child travel only with one parent, or with no parents, he/she will have to have an affidavit showing the consent of the parents. 
Download the affidavit form - the signature must certified by a Commissioner of Oaths or by a South African Diplomatic Mission.

c) An unaccompanied minor, will also have to be in possession of a statement from the person who will receive the minor at destination.

All passports need to be valid for at least 30 days after the date of return from South Africa, and there must be two completely empty pages in the visa section.
